The “Lethal Trap” Through the Eyes of an Insect —— Insect Monitoring Station

As night fell, I was flying through the darkness as usual. Suddenly, I spotted a beam of light that lured insects ahead. Driven by instinct, my companions and I flew towards the light source without hesitation. Later I came to know that it was actually a nightmare from which there was no escape. That beam of light came from a "lethal trap" known as the Insect Monitoring Station.

When we got closer to the light, a huge device came into view. Before I could react, along with other flying insects, I entered the interior of this gigantic contraption through the louver. The layout inside was like a meticulously designed maze, and danger lurked in every corner. I flew aimlessly along the passage and suddenly slammed into a hard impact plate. In an instant, I felt dizzy, and my body uncontrollably fell downwards, dropping into a searing-hot space – the insect-killing chamber.

An unbearable blast of high temperature quickly surrounded me, as if I were in a furnace. In just a few minutes, my companions and I lost all signs of life. After my death, a baffle flipped over, and my body fell into another place – the drying chamber. It was also extremely hot here, and my body was further dried and set in shape. Then, the drying baffle flipped, and I dropped onto a constantly vibrating plate. Under the effect of the vibration, the bodies of me and my other companions were spread out and sent onto a slowly moving conveyor belt.

The conveyor belt transported us under a camera. With a "click", our "posthumous photos" were taken. Up to this point, my "journey" ended. But for the Insect Monitoring Station, this was just the beginning of data collection. My photo would be uploaded to the server, and humans would analyze our species and quantity through this information and further formulate strategies for pest control.

Originally, I was just a small insect flying at night, single-mindedly chasing that beam of light, but I was lured into the carefully designed "trap" by humans. The Insect Monitoring Station has claimed the lives of countless pests like me. However, for farmers, it is a powerful tool for protecting farmland!
