Wind speed monitoring is not only crucial for the promotion of a green lifestyle but also directly affects our daily travel safety and the production environment. When the wind speed is too high, it not only poses a threat to driving safety but may also trigger natural disasters. Therefore, the precise monitoring of wind speed and wind direction has become an important requirement for the development of modern society. With the continuous progress of technology, wind speed and wind direction measurement instruments have also undergone a transformation from traditional mechanical types to ultrasonic technology.
Traditional mechanical wind speed and wind direction sensors, such as the three-cup anemometer and the vane wind direction sensor, have a simple principle and a relatively low cost. However, during long-term use, the measurement accuracy is likely to decline due to the wear of mechanical components. In contrast, ultrasonic wind speed and wind direction sensors feature a design without mechanical moving parts, effectively avoiding the problem of wear and tear. They have a longer service life and higher measurement accuracy.
The working principle of the Ultrasonic Wind Speed Direction Sensor is to utilize the characteristic that the propagation speed of ultrasonic waves in the air is affected by wind speed and wind direction. By measuring the propagation time difference or phase difference of ultrasonic waves in different directions, the instantaneous values of both wind speed and wind direction can be calculated simultaneously. Especially for small ultrasonic wind speed and wind direction sensors, they can achieve 360° all-round measurement through four ultrasonic probes that cyclically send and receive signals within a two-dimensional plane, without having to worry about angular limitations.
The Ultrasonic Wind Speed Direction Sensor is compact in size, easy to carry and install, and is widely applied in fields such as meteorological monitoring, marine research, environmental assessment, airports, and ports. Take the FT-WQX2A2 ultrasonic wind speed and wind direction sensor developed by Fengtu Technology as an example. This product, based on the upgrade of ultrasonic technology, has the advantages of light weight, high strength, and corrosion resistance, and can operate stably in complex environments.

The FT - SQ2A Handheld Weather Station by TianQiong measures wind speed and direction using the ultrasonic time - difference method. It comes with its own display screen, which can display the detected data in real - time. The station is encased in an ABS engineering plastic shell, which is lightwei...
