In low-temperature and snowy weather, bridge icing is a serious problem. Bridge icing not only affects the stability of the bridge structure and shortens its service life, but also poses a great threat to the safety of passing vehicles and pedestrians, and is extremely likely to cause traffic accidents.
To deal with the problem of bridge icing, preventive work is crucial. Firstly, relevant departments will pay close attention to weather forecasts and make preparations before severe weather arrives. For example, they will stockpile materials such as deicing agents and ice removal equipment, and arrange professional personnel to be on standby. At the same time, daily inspections and maintenance of the bridge are carried out to ensure the smooth drainage system and reduce the possibility of water accumulation and icing on the bridge. In addition, strengthening the monitoring of the bridge is also a key link, and the Bridge icing sensor plays an important role in it.
Traditional bridge icing monitoring often relies on manual inspections and observations. This method is not only inefficient, but also difficult to achieve real-time monitoring. The application of the Bridge icing sensor has realized real-time monitoring and early warning of the icing situation of the bridge, improving the efficiency and accuracy of monitoring.
The Bridge icing sensor is a high-tech monitoring device that can monitor the ice accumulation thickness on the bridge surface in real time. Taking the FT-JB1H bridge icing sensor as an example, it adopts advanced microwave detection technology. Based on the differences in the feedback information of microwave signals from different substances such as ice, water, and air, it can accurately monitor the icing information in the sensitive area of the sensor. By analyzing the strength of the signal and the distribution of icing in the sensor area, it can accurately calculate the icing thickness. Its detection resolution can reach 0.01mm, and the maximum measurement thickness is 50.00mm, which can meet the needs of high-precision monitoring of the icing thickness of the bridge.
This sensor can monitor the icing thickness of the bridge in real time. Once the thickness exceeds the set threshold, the system will immediately issue an alarm to notify the relevant departments to take measures, such as spreading deicing agents and carrying out ice removal operations, to avoid serious impacts on the bridge and traffic caused by excessive icing. Moreover, it can also detect weather conditions such as rain and has a temperature detection function. It has two temperature measurement points, which can measure the temperature near the circuit board and the temperature of the ice melting heater respectively. It also has an ice melting function. When the transmission line (or the bridge ice melting system) melts the ice, it can send an ice melting command to the sensor at the same time (the ice melting function requires separate power supply).

In short, the Bridge icing sensor can help us discover the icing situation of the bridge in a timely manner and take corresponding measures for intervention, effectively reducing traffic accidents caused by bridge icing.
